Seattle Women's Wellness
Gynecology
Our practice encompasses the full range of gynecologic services. This includes preventive screening for cancers, including examinations for breast cancer, cervical, uterine and ovarian cancers. We also screen for nonmalignant conditions of the reproductive organs, and we treat all these conditions. Treatment may include counseling on lifestyle changes, nutrition, medication and/or surgery. The physicians at Seattle Women's Wellness strive to provide comprehensive treatment of the whole woman with respect to gynecologic care, and we are highly skilled in minimally invasive as well as traditional surgical and medical therapies.

We support a woman’s right to choose regarding her options for treatment of any condition, including pregnancy. Although we no longer deliver babies, we continue to provide preconception counseling and genetic screening, initial pregnancy evaluations, treatment of unwanted pregnancies and pregnancies that end in miscarriage. We provide counseling regarding options for unwanted pregnancies, including adoption and abortion, both by medical and surgical techniques. We perform tubal ligations for patients who request them, and we place IUDs (intrauterine contraceptive devices).

Full contraceptive services are offered, including those mentioned above, as well as counseling and prescribing oral contraceptives, the contraceptive patch, which is changed weekly, the contraceptive vaginal ring, placed monthly, Depo Provera injections every 12 weeks, and diaphragm fitting. Contraceptive counseling covers these therapies but also addresses plans for fertility preservation.

Menopause symptoms and implications for a woman’s health comprise a large portion of our practice. We view menopause as a natural transition in a woman’s life, but we realize that a significant minority of women may need help in negotiating the symptoms that become bothersome, troubling or worse. Treatments are an evolving art, an art that requires continual investigation, to which we dedicate much research time and much time counseling our patients. We offer the results of our evaluations to our patients and are able to choose therapies that fulfill a variety of needs and philosophies.
